Giornale, 1863-1869.

This 62 page unpublished manuscript includes an intermittent diary, which starts on Christmas day of 1863, and ends on Oct. 28, 1869 (pp. 1-40); 4 pages of financial accounts for 1867 (pp. 42-45); and two play drafts in Italian (pp. 47-54 & 61-62), separated by 5 leaves of drawings of architectural elements, perhaps intended for scenery at Spence's theater. There are ca. four dozen drawings in pencil and ink throughout the ledger, starting from the front pastedown, and ending on page 60. They represent anatomic studies, heads, figures alone or in groups, and architectural sketches. One ink sketch illustrates the unveiling of Dante's statue in Piazza Santa Croce, described on p. 3 of the diary.
